Podcasting- Free The Airways!

This page has a list of my favorite podcasts- the 'casts I listen to, the podcasters I admire, and the podcasts I listen to just for fun.

Parenting and Family Podcasts

Mommycast- The first, the best and the Gold Standard of Parenting Podcasts. This is one of the first podcasts I ever listened to, and what inspired me to try podcasting myself.

Manic Mommies- Two working women, with young children discuss the daily challenge of balancing work, kids, life and finding some time to stay sane in the process. Erin and Kristen have alot of energy and are always alot of fun.

101 Uses for Baby Wipes: Dennis Gray does this great parenting podcast from a Dad's point of view. he includes news, commentary, interviews, and panels with other dads about issues that come up with kids, as well as the 101 things you can do with baby wipes! Dennis is a great guy, and I feel lucky to count him in my group of podcasting friends.

Music Podcasts

Accident Hash

Jersey Todd Show- The Hardest Working Lawyer in Podcasting, Jersey Todd has a great music podcast, highlighting terrific artists and I enjoy his rants and commentary in between songs.

Pacific Coast Hellway

Bandtrax

High Orbit

Pod Save the Queen- Adam Curry's daughter, Christina, does a fun music show, highlighting new podsafe groups.  If you want to know what it's like to be a sixteen year old these days, Christina's show is one to listen to.

U Turn Cafe- The mellower side of CC Chapman.  This podcast does not have a strict production schedule, so it's like getting a special present when a new show is up.

The Best General Podcasts (wiith Podcasts about Podcasts)

The Daily Source Code- The one and the original podcast by Adam Curry, a.k.a The Podfather. Adam and his friends "invented" podcasting, and his daily show is always terrific fun to listen to. If you want to know what's going on in the podosphere, your first stop needs to be the DSC.

Digital Flotsam- P W. Fenton is a wonderful story teller, and you shouldn't miss his podcasts.

Podcast 411- If you want to learn about podcasting and podcasts in general, Podcast 411 is the place to go. Rob interviews podcasters about what they're doing, what their computer background is, what podcasts they listen to, and the forum boards are a vital tool to help you solve those newbie and more experienced podcast technical questions.

The Dawn and Drew Show- a funny, irreverent podcast from a unique couple.  Not kid friendly, but enjoyable.

Where's my F*%&! Latte?- This show, NOT kid safe, is all about what personal assistants deal with in Hollywood, but few names are dropped to protect the jobs of those unloading the stories of the crud they've had to do to serve the big-wigs in the business.  If you ever wondered what it wold be like working for a studio, being a script writer, or working for a star, listen here before you go any further with that dream.  VERY funny show by the producer of Pacific Coast Hellway.

Business Oriented Podcasts-

Managing the Gray- CC Chapman, of Accident Hash fame, does a great show all about new media. You'll learn something interesting every show!

Comedy

American Comedy Network.Com - Like those short, fake commercials you here on traditional radio? Get the best here, daily. Average time of the podcast is under a minute, and almost always worth it.

Monkey Box (Not child friendly)

This is Screaming Halibut - a podcast best described as Dr. Who meets Monty Python who decided to do a radio show on the internet. My sons love Morag, I don't quite know why.

Hobby/Travel/Misc.

Disgruntled Disney Dweeb: I stumbled across this podcast when I took a look for Disney podcasts before a recent vacation. An interesting, non-sacchrine look at everything mouse.

I Should Be Writing- Mur Lafferty does this great podcast for aspiring writers, struggling with writing and trying to get their work published.

Knit Cast- Marie Ashad interviews notable knitters in her periodic podcasts. Marie is a professional journalist, so her shows are always well produced.

Philadelphia Museum of Art- Like other museums, The Philadelphia Museum of Art has podcast tours of its galleries you can download before going, and listen to while going through the exhibits. What a great way to get an audio tour of art, without the cheesy rent-at-the-exhibit handheld audio guides.

Shadow Falls - Podshow's original audio drama series- very well done!

The Word Nerds- Is there a writer or hidden english teacher inside you?  The word nerds is a great podcast about parts of speech, the origin or words, and despite the fact that it may sound dull as dishwater to your kids, learning all about hyperbole can be fun!
